Insurance Claim Route

Map where an insurance claim problem has reached, identify the missing parts of the insurer's decision, and find the ConsumerWise guidance that fits the next step.

Review beta

Built for expert review

This beta translates the decision-mapping framework in Steve Smart's first ConsumerWise insurance contribution into an interactive route. It is publicly reachable at this URL, but deliberately not indexed or promoted while ConsumerWise checks the step names, questions and outcomes with Steve.

The tool does not decide whether an insurer is right or wrong. It helps identify what you need to establish before choosing the next route.

What the route is testing

The core rejected-claim branch asks whether you can identify four things from the insurer's decision: the factual finding, the exact policy term, the evidence relied on, and the insurer's causal conclusion. Missing one of those points usually means there is still an information gap to close before a focused rebuttal can be built.

The beta also keeps urgent or high-complexity cases separate from ordinary self-help, and distinguishes an internal insurer complaint from escalation to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
